Pete is the bottom of the band, some would say literally as well as metaphorically.
He started out in the compulsory dreadful punk band at the tender age of 17, under the
influence of four pints of cider, Jean Jacques Burnel of The Stranglers and Bruce Foxton
of The Jam, before hanging up his plectrum at the age of 22. Having previously failed to
master both the piano and the oboe, he saw no reason why the bass guitar should be spared
his musical incompetence.
He was lured out of retirement by the formation of Gasoline Alley, on the promise of free
real ale for life (yet to materialise) and the chance once again to upset the neighbours
(mission accomplished). He hopes to replicate the late, great John Entwistle's seminal
bass solo from My Generation before he dies. Bookies are currently offering 2000-1 odds
against his succeeding.
Pete plays (well, sort of) Sadowsky and Fender basses through a Gallien-Krueger amp into
Ashdown speakers.
